ο»Ώο»ΏβIn this time of pandemic, keeping healthy is crucial as the world is trapped in quarantine,β confides Black.
In the comfort of his home, Norman Black is restoring his equally legendary Burlington Basketball Tips, this time online via Google Drive, Facebook, and YouTube.
During these unprecedented times, Black initiated the online instructional video to keep kids active and busy while on quarantine. He made a 15-minute episode with his son Aaron, former Blue Eagle and recently drafted by MERALCO. The 23-year old PBA rookie was not even born yet when BBT came into being, now he is joining his dad in the virtual version!
With their residence as venue, the father and son teamed up to show different basketball drills. The two concentrated in ball handling and dribbling exercises on a limited space in their mini-gym at home. It was ably edited by Aaronβs friend.
"I hope to sustain this project until kids go back to face-to-face classes in school," said PBA's Mr. 100%.
Fans who got wind of this project wait with excitement. βI grew up with Burlington Basketball with Coach Norman, and it has helped define my youth as I religiously followed its weekly editions and even enrolled in one of their summer camps,β shared Romeo Delos Santos, then a 12-year old sixth grader, now a father of 2 boys.
"I am anxiously awaiting the online tutorials so I can watch them with my sons," added De Los Santos, who is connected with a construction company.
Hope springs eternal and good times await, as the bad turns a corner. The past and present generations of basketball aficionados are bouncing back like the ball waiting for its rendezvous in the basket. The father and son are ready to guide Delos Santosβ sons and other young basketball enthusiast on how to handle basketball in the virtual hard court. The endless circle of life goes round and round like the ball being chased by men sweating out, this time of the new normal.
